When will you be reopening?
We are basing our procedures on the recommendations from official groups like CDC and local government, so we will be opening as soon as it is responsible and healthy to do so.
Our West Loop, Chicago location reopened to members on July 8.
Our Somerville location will be open to members on September 18. (UPDATED 9/15)
Our NYC locations reopened members on September 2.
Our Lincoln Park, Chicago location reopened to members on September 15.

How do I reactivate my membership?
What’s the difference between suspending and terminating my membership?
Suspending (or "freezing") is a temporary pause of your membership, which will allow you to preserve your current rate.
Terminating your membership would cancel the current terms of your membership, so if you plan on returning later on, it would be under a new membership agreement.
In either case, you’d still have access to any account credit remaining on your account.
Can I keep my membership suspended if I'm not ready to come back yet?
Yes....and it's completely free. Request a suspension here!
What happens if I kept my membership active during closure?
Thanks for your contribution! Any amount paid will be issued back to you in the form of an account credit after reopening. If you have any further questions, feel free to connect with us here.
How can I redeem credit accrued during the closure after reopening?
Our team is available to help lay out options for this.
Account credit can be used on anything sold in facilities, including classes, packs, gifts for friends, months of membership, and retail purchases. Credit accrued during the closure will be issued back to your Mindbody account as a store credit.
Please understand that as we reopen, our primary focus is to get the facility back up n' running and rehire staff. Helping members reactivate their membership is crucial to this effort. If you need to connect with our membership team sooner, we're available and happy to help.
Classes, Packs, and Reservations
I have a Beginner to Badass or climbing class on my account that was disrupted by the closure. What's happening with that?
We’re preserving any items on your account which have been impacted by the COVID-19 closure, so you will be able to access them after reopening and when capacity limits allow.
What's happening with my 10-Pack?
If your 10-Pack expired while we were closed, the amount of time from the closure through your pack's expiration date will be added back after we reopen and are able to provide access for non-members.
What’s going to happen with my Adventure camp booking?
Our current plan is to preserve the booking on your account, in case we are able to responsibly offer the program. However, if this is not an option, we will convert your booking into account credit, which you can use later or gift to a friend. If this option doesn’t work for you, please reach out to us at email@example.com or by completing this form. In your email, please include both the location of your booking and your camper’s name.
Reopening Health and Safety Changes
Our community is the most important part of BKB. That means keeping you healthy is our top priority. Below you'll find the Community Health Standards we've put in place to do just that. We are keeping a close eye on updates from the CDC as well as local and state authorities and will keep this page up to date with any changes to these standards.
If you’re experiencing any flu or cold symptoms, please stay home and return when you are well.
Each of our facilities will be deep cleaned before reopening, with extensive staff training on new health + safety protocols.
We will be increasing our Custodial Staff and the frequency of our cleanings. All high-touch surfaces will be cleaned every two hours with each facility fully deep-cleaned daily. We will be using hospital grade disinfectants and electrostatic cleaners to ensure surfaces are thoroughly disinfected.
Due to capacity restrictions, access will be limited. Walk-ins are permitted if space allows.
We invite you to use our new registration system to plan your 90 minute visit in advance and help our community to continue to socially distance responsibly. While reservations will not be required, a reservation is the only way to guarantee access.
Reservations only designate the arrival window. You are free to stay in the facility for up to 90 minutes from the time you arrive, and you do not need to make additional reservations to guarantee your time after entry. It is recommended that you only make one reservation per day.
What To Expect
Shirts, Shoes, + Masks Required
Staff, members and guests are all required to wear a mask at all times within the facility. BKB team members will also be wearing gloves. Shirt and shoes are also required.
If you have made a reservation online, or saved your credit card information on your account, your check-ins will be contactless. Members and packholders with BKB swipe cards can also enjoy a contactless check-in. Need a swipe card? Ask the front desk on your next visit--protective shields have also been installed at the front desk for your protection.
Upon arrival, a trained BKB team member will use an infrared thermometer to perform a touchless temperature check and perform a Health Declaration. Staff will receive the same temperature checks before each shift.
Hand Sanitizing Stations
To keep our hands germ-free, we have stocked our facilities with hand sanitizer and sanitizing wipes for lockers and equipment. You’ll find the first sanitizing station located at the entrance, with additional stations throughout the facility.
Liquid chalk, made with at least 60% alcohol, has been found to be disinfecting and will be provided at no additional cost. If you would like to purchase your own, liquid chalk with 80% alcohol can be found in the retail sections of each facility. We’re currently not allowing loose chalk to be used
Route, Floor + Flow Markings
To make it easy for all to abide by social distancing guidelines, you’ll find route, floor, and flow markings installed to indicate the appropriate places to climb and stand while maintaining 6 feet of distance between staff, members, and guests.
To limit the number of surfaces staff, members, and guests come in contact with, all doors throughout the space will be automated or propped open for hands-free entries and exits.
Limited Locker Room Use
You can find open-air storage and lockers throughout the facility, but locker rooms will be restricted to use for bathrooms and changing only.
Increased Sanitization & Cleaning
Facilities will close one hour earlier and no check-ins will be allowed for one hour during the day to allow more time for Staff to clean.
How to Prepare
BYO Water + Gear
Water fountain access will be strictly limited. We encourage everyone to bring their own water or purchase a water bottle at the front desk.
At this time, we are no longer able to offer shoe or harness rentals (except for Summer Adventures) or loose chalk rentals. Members and guests are encouraged to bring their own climbing shoes and harnesses or purchase them at the front desk.
Credit Cards Only
To avoid passing germs through cash, we will only be accepting credit card payments. If you do not already have a credit card on file, you can store your information upon your first visit for touchless transactions going forward.
NO: cash, rentals, loose chalk, maskless faces, bare feet, showers, saunas, group exercise classes, kids academy, birthday parties, climbing classes.
Spread Love Not Germs: Please no handshakes, high fives, hugs, fist bumps + interpersonal physical contact with our staff and others.
And please, as always, WASH YOUR HANDS.
